Our Rugby Club Legacy
About Us
Proudly homegrown, Valley Hunters is a rugby union club based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Grounded in faith, built on discipline, and driven by community, we are committed to developing local talent, promoting the true spirit of the game, and using sport as a force for good.
We proudly compete in the premier rugby competition in Port Moresby — the Pepsi Capital Rugby Union (CRU) — where we are the reigning champions, having secured the 2024 CRU title.
Our club fields a full pathway of teams, including Under-20 Girls, Under-20 Boys, Under-23, A Grade, Open Women’s, and Premier Men’s sides. This inclusive structure ensures we nurture talent at every level and foster a strong, united rugby community.
From grassroots development to elite competition, Valley Hunters is more than just a rugby club. We are a family driven by passion, purpose, and pride in representing our people — both on and off the field.
Our Mission
At Valley Hunters Rugby Club, our mission is to develop not only skilled rugby players but strong, disciplined individuals — on and off the field. Guided by our motto, “To be a good player and a good person,” and inspired by Philippians 4:13 — “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” — we strive to build a culture rooted in faith, hard work, and service.
We are committed to empowering our players through sport, growing local talent, and using rugby as a platform to uplift our communities and represent our people with integrity, humility, and pride.
Community Engagement
Valley Hunters proudly serves as the Health and Fitness Ambassadors for the Operation Open Heart Foundation, supporting heart health awareness and promoting active lifestyles across Papua New Guinea. Through this partnership, we use the power of sport to inspire healthier communities and stronger futures.
We are also proud to partner with Hilton Hotel and Residences Port Moresby through their Travel with Purpose program, working together to champion health, wellbeing, and meaningful community connection.
